چکیده

The sol-gel transition is studied in two purely entropic models consisting of hard spheres in continuous three-dimensional space, with a fraction p of nearest neighbor spheres tethered by inextensible bonds. When all the tethers are present (p = 1) the two systems have connectivities of simple cubic and face-centered cubic lattices. For all p above the percolation threshold pc, the elasticity has a cubic symmetry characterized by two distinct shear moduli. When p approaches pc, both shear moduli decay as (p − pc) , where f ≃ 2 for each type of the connectivity. This result is similar to the behavior of the conductivity in random resistor networks, and is consistent with many experimental studies of gel elasticity. The difference between the shear moduli that measures the deviation from isotropy decays as (p− pc), with h ≃ 4. 82.70.Gg, 62.20.Dc, 61.43.-j, 05.10.-a Typeset using REVTEX

Entropic elasticity of phantom percolation networks

– A new method is used to measure the stress and elastic constants of purely entropic phantom networks, in which a fraction p of neighbors are tethered by inextensible bonds. We find that close to the percolation threshold pc the shear modulus behaves as (p−pc) , where the exponent f ≈ 1.35 in two dimensions, and f ≈ 1.95 in three dimensions, close to the corresponding values of the conductivit...

Entropic elasticity of two-dimensional self-avoiding percolation systems

The sol-gel transition is studied on a purely entropic two-dimensional model system consisting of hard spheres (disks) in which a fraction p of neighbors are tethered by inextensible bonds. We use a new method to measure directly the elastic properties of the system. We find that over a broad range of hard sphere diameters a the rigidity threshold is insensitive to a and indistinguishable from ...

A comparative study between transition-metal-substituted Keggin-type tungstosilicates supported on anatase leaf as catalyst for synthesis of symmetrical disulfides

Transition-metal-substituted  (TMS)  polyoxometalates  of  the  general  formula  [SiW9M3O39], (where M = first row transition metal), has been synthesized and supported on anatase by sol–gel method under oil-bath condition. The tetrabutylammonium (TBA) salts of the Keggin-type polyoxotungstates  [SiW9M3O39],  (M = VII, CrII, MnII,  FeII CoII  and NiII),  proved  to  be  green, reusable,  and  ...

Magnetic resonance elastography and diffusion-weighted imaging of the sol/gel phase transition in agarose.

The dynamics of the sol/gel phase transition in agarose was analyzed with magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) and diffusion-weighted imaging, providing complementary information on a microstructural as well as on a macroscopic spatial scale. In thermal equilibrium, the diffusion coefficient of agarose is linearly correlated with temperature, independent of the sol/gel phase transition. In lar...

Synthesis and characterization of Alumina (Al2O3) nanoparticles prepared by simple sol-gel method

Alumina is one of the most widely used ceramic materials as catalysts, catalyst supports and absorbents, and also wear resistant coating. This study focused on fabricating and characterizing of alumina ceramic nanoparticles fabricated using new and simple sol-gel method. Aluminium oxide (Al2O3) nanoparticles were synthesized by iron (III) nitrate 9-hydrate as precursor. Physicochemical properti...
